Just a quick update to let you know how Bob is doing….As I write this I try to find some encouraging spots or highlights, if you will, but right now each day is progressively getting more difficult. He is getting very weak and is trying to fight off infections with in the body. We met with Dr. Amin yesterday and he stated that we couldn’t move forward with chemotherphy at this point because he is just too weak. We are praying for strength. Bob is in a lot of pain right now. Tomorrow we are meeting with the palliative care doctor. He is actually looking forward to getting some relief.
Dad has used the analogy of “The Forest” and experiencing the interior. Well if you get deep enough you can’t see too far ahead (we are pretty deep). This can cause several different emotions….frustration, fear, uncertainity or perhaps you just have to trust that your next step is the right step. We have talked about the frustration or why me? and how that hasn’t been a topic in our family (and that’s still the case). There is fear and it is evil! I have really been tackling this personally in so many areas but this is a spirit that is not of God and we as Christ followers have power over it. This is one area that many people can not move to what God really has for them because they are bound by fear. Fear of failing, fear of “what if,” fear of rejection etc. The scripture talks about this often. “I have not given you a spirit of fear but power, love and of sound mind”, II Timothy 1:7. So we are in a place where we have to just trust that our next step is the right step. It involves so much trust which is sometimes hard, but when I reflect on the path that I have walked and realize that my Father was right there to guide me (or us), it becomes reassurring and encouraging…doesn’t mean it’s easier. So we walk forward and trust you Lord.
I read this email second so glad to know that Bob is pain-free right now. Will pray for the nausea, strength and appetitie. Can’t imagine what your family is facing every day but you do it with such grace and glorify the Lord at every turn.
Love and prayers, renee

Checking the website daily hoping for good news about Bob’s pain and fatigue. Has he had any relief from the pain yet? I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to manage pain 24/7.
Bob is so precious and you know many are hurting with you guys. I hope he will keep fighting. Love, Karen

Suzie and Bob:
I can simply go to the scriptures: Psalm 22:24 “For He hath not despised the afflicted; neither hath He hid His face from him; but when he cried unto Him, He heard.” I know you are crying out to the Lord and He hears…what a great comfort. We, too, are crying out to the Lord. Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever”.
Our lives have touched for 30 years….through troubles, trials, sickness and joys. We raised our children together and how wonderful that they all four are sustained through the Lord no matter what they face. Praise God you were faithful to lead as an example to Scott and Krista and now they can call you Blessed.
You are not forgotten; yet loved and treasured by the Burmeister/Eveland families. Prayer is our gift. “He will never leave you or forsake you” Heb. 13:5)
Love to all the Paces…Gaye, (Barry) Rick (Heidi), and Jessica (Craig).

And we do call her Blessed. Scott and I are SO blessed to have the parents that we do. And the godly example they are to us all. Thank you Gaye for all your support and prayers, and scripture. I still remember all the fun times we had together a long time ago.
With Love
Krista

Praying for strength, peace, rest, freedom from pain. Your Heavenly Father is holding you tightly by His strong and mighty hand and won’t let go so you’re safe even when you are unsure of the path or what’s ahead in the forest. Love you guys!

Somtimes, there just are not any words. I love you and bear your suffering with you as one who shares the same Spirit, as many do. How merciful that God grants us divine unity with the Saints to carry our burdens when we grow weary. Interceding on your behalf… – Nancy & Jim

Scott, praying like a “juggernaut” on your behalf my dear friend! Asking God to miraculously heal your dad like He did for so many throughout the NT, but if that is not His will, that He would miraculously comfort, and that He would be glorified through either! Thank you for sharing the update with us, and we will continue to pray. Not as a last resort, but as a first defense, in the court of a mighty King who is the Sovereign God of the universe, and He knows your every need!

Suzie and Bob,
We think and pray for you and your whole family often. You are great teachers representing the word of God and you have given God the glory in all circumstances and through this very difficult journey. I wished there was something I could do or say that would be an encouragement. I don’t have the knowledge that you both have, but I do know this. That God is carrying you and your family. For now, I pray for relief from pain. That is an important need right now. I know that would make everyone feel better. Your family is special to us, we will keep you in our prayers. God’s blessings to you all. Please tell Bob we say hello. Love you both,
Janie and Steve

Bob and Suzie I don’t know if you will remember Jim and Juni Davis. We were at Calvary and Charlotte Christian from 1977 until 1993. I came across your blog through FACEBOOK and am so sorry for the difficult times you are walking through. Please know that we remember you guys with warm thoughts and we will pray with you for God’s miraculous healing hand and for His complete peace each day. He is truly The Great Physician and He is able. Love you and will stay in touch.

We enjoyed the visit last week. Talking with Bob and Suzy took us back many years to being student couples at Clemson and newly hired professionals in the early 70′s. Thank you for the time, you guys all continue to be a major focus in our prayers. Norma and Jimmy

We will continue to pray for all of you. Trust is an amazing thing. It is so easy to use the word trust but it is a daily balance of putting one foot in front of the other (even when it is just a mental foot step).
Father I thank you so much for the entire Pace family. As we watch them they are constantly pointing toward you. As we TRUST in you we know in your word you say that you have a plan for us. A plan for good not for harm. Father we call upon this promise! I thank you that your will be done and we trust that you have all things in your hands!!!
Amen!
