May 16, 1947 – February 4, 2010
Early this morning Bob went to be his Lord. In one way the journey is completed in another way the journey has just begun. As we were talking the other morning, he was reflecting on his life and he said, “The Lord has ALWAYS been faithful.” He lived by this. The Lord has been the center point of his life. He was dedicated to Him. I know he got to hear those words, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” We are very thankful and blessed to be able to be around such a Godly man, much less be able to call him husband, father or friend.
The outpouring of love from friends has been overwhelming.
We are working on finalizing the arrangements and will post those once all the details have been scheduled.
I cam across this poemtoday and it was so appropriate:
I am home in heaven, dear ones; all’s so happy, all so bright! There’s perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief are over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly trod the valley of the Shade? Oh, but Jesus’ love illlumined every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread; and with Jesus’ arm to lean on, could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still; try to look beyond earth’s shadows, pray to trust our Father’s will. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idle stand; do your work while life remaineth — you shall rest in Jesus’ land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home; oh the rapture of the meeting! Oh, the joy to see you come! Author Unknown
It says it all.
Love to you all.

Suzie
Have been praying for you, Scott and Krista. We’ll always remember Bob as a great Sunday School teacher who pointed us, not to himself, but to Christ. There are lots of examples and notes in the margin of our Bibles that remind us of him. We will continue to lift you up in prayer in the difficult days and weeks ahead.

Suzie, We know that the love and comfort of your family and friends will support you and carry you through this time but the truth of Christ and His declaration of the everlasting life of the faithful will give you hope at every moment. You will not only endure, but like Bob you will triumph!

So sorry to hear of this loss. Celebrating with you Bob’s life and the fact that He is with His Lord in Glory now. We remember Bob as a teacher and Godly man who loved Jesus and the word of God. His life was testimony of that. What a rich legacy to leave behind for those who loved and knew him. We pray God’s comfort and hope in the days ahead for you Suzie and your family.

While we grieve with all of your family for the tremendous loss you are experiencing, we rejoice that Bob has met his Lord face to face. May the knowledge of his glorious home-going give you peace and sustain you in the lonely days ahead. We will always remember Bob for his Godly wisdom and great faith.

Suzie, Scott and Krista:
When Jennifer tearfully protested how quickly Bob died after being diagnosed, I told her I firmly believe God rewarded him for being such a good man by not making him suffer needlessly. I would wish for the same mercy. The intense grief being experienced by your family speaks volumes of the kind of husband, father and grandfather Bob was. We will be praying for you in the days ahead. So very sorry for your loss.

Bob ministered to we singles as our teacher and elder. But I also will remember him as one of those very solid men who God chose to be at the core of Calvary Church as I was saved, then built up in Christ there. The Bob Pace smile radiated the peace of Christ daily.

We will miss a great man and a true witness of His Work, for just a little while! He will continue to leave an outstanding testimony and example of a Godly father, husband and Christian brother. Our love and prayers go out to the extended family. Bob is home now and we rejoice with him as he was able to lay at our Savior’s feet so many crowns! Phil. 3:20

Psalm 116:15 – Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
“When the sun finally drops below the horizon in the early evening, evidence of its work remains for some time. The skies continue to glow for a full hour after its departure.
In the same way, when a great person’s life comes to its final sunset, the skies of this world are illuminated until long after he is out of view. Such a person does not die from this world, for when he departs he leaves much of himself behind. Even in death he still speaks.”
Henry Ward Beecher

The One who now holds Bob’s hand is also the One holding yours. May you feel Him holding yours tightly and draw strength from His presence.
“I’m with you.
There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.
I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you.
I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.” Isaiah 41:10 (The Message)

Our prayers are with you and your family at this time, Suzie, praying for the peace that surpasses all understanding and the comfort only our Comforter can bring. We are sorry to hear of Bob’s passing but delight, with you, knowing he is no longer in pain and that he is in God’s glory. This scripture has come to my mind, reminding me of both of you:
“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it. But if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.”
1 Cor. 13:3.
Bob had the gift of loving others, serving others, and sacrificing for others. There are many crowns in heaven awaiting him. Continually lifting you in pray today and the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Love,
John and Lisa

My mind goes back to our first days at Calvary and the Empty Nesters class. That radiant smile that Bob had always blessed us as he stood before the class to teach, and what a teacher he was. Just think, he’s standing in the very presence of our wonderful Lord and Savior. He now sees with his own eyes what he has believed by faith for so long
Suzie, may you rest in the everlasting arms of Jesus as He carries you through this difficult time, knowing that Bob has just gone away for a while. He will live in our hearts until we meet again in heaven.

Angels are rejoicing today at the addition of this choice servant and saint to heaven’s chorus.
I know that your grief is deep and mourning the heartfelt loss temporarily masks the great joy we all feel at the secure knowledge of God’s great mercy toward us all, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for each one of us.
I find myself smiling thru my tears as I recall the sweet memories of the intersections of our lives. God bless you in this time.

Suzie, our hearts are heavy as we learn of Bob’s death but are rejoicing at the same time that he has finished the race well and it now with our Savior to begin another journey. This time it will only be filled with praise and worship and all good things and best of all it will never end! As always, he continued to teach us during these last few months. We have all learned from his Godly example.

Please know we will continually pray for you all. Bob made such an impact on all of us in the Singles Group at Calvary. Craig and I have never gotten yours and Bob’s faithfulness to us…we still talk about how special our times were. Susie, I have not stopped praying since the day I saw you at Homegood’s and Bob was going to the DR the very next day! I praise God today that Bob is in the presence of our awesome Savior!

I’m reading Max Lucado’s book:
In The Eye of the Storm.
He says:
“GOD never said that the journey would be easy, but he did say that the arrival would be worthwhile. He’s the Father of forward motion. Trust him. He will get you home. And the trials of the trip will be lost in the joys of the feast. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll close my eyes. I’m a bit tired from the journey, and it feels good to rest.”
Eternal Glory. Bob got there first. What a reward.

Thinking about Bob brings a smile of joy and hope into our lives, as our friend was one filled with a great love for his Savior. Bob made an impact on our lives through his teaching but more so with the essence of who God made him and his living for and trusting in his Lord. I still remember, very vividly, times we had breakfast together, his large gentleness and warmth, even laughing at himself. Bob was chosen and was “pleasing unto his Savior”, in faith, in trust and in hope. His witness was true.
He was a faithful servant that in now on the streets of gold, walking with the Lord.
Suzie, you and family are in our prayers today, as they have been for so long, and will continue to be.

I can’t even wrap my brain around the loss of a parent but the tears flow non the less. I am so sorry for your loss and will also forever remember Bob in his chair bringing heartfelt teaching and thought provoking questions that made us all pause and evaluate. It was in his pauses that I drew closer to our God.
Thank you for sharing him with us during our small group which was not so small due to his tremendous teaching and warmth.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers for God to comfort you while Bob is in His arms!

Thankfulness in our hearts that God used Bob in so many ways…and Bob always heard and he was obedient.
Tears in our eyes and hearts for all left behind. Especially Suzie and her precious family.
Will always smile seeing Bob in “Bob’s chair” at small groups. And there always was that “chair” that he led from. No matter whose home it was. What a nice mental picture. And that kind smile….
Thank you Bob..thank you God..

There is no greater joy that to be in the presence of God. Yet, for those left behind, there is a sorrow in the separation. But comfort is found in knowing your loved one is eternally happy.
My wife and I will be praying for you in the days ahead. Rest assured your dad and husband made a lasting impact on many of us. His teaching played no small role in sending missionaries to the field, leading many to Christ. Yes, “well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

We enjoyed his teaching in our small group. He loved the Lord and he conveyed that as he imparted The Word to us twice a month. He is and will be sorely missed.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you that God would comfort you at this time of loss in your lives. Rich and I have both lost our dad’s so we know very well the ache in your hearts. We are so sorry for your loss.

Bob was one of my most significant friends. Even though our paths diverged in years past, Bob, Suzy, Scott, and Krista have all made lasting impressions in our lives. Fond memories from Clemson and early years here in Charlotte cause warm feelings in our hearts. We treasure our visit a few days ago, it was a rewarding parenthesis to our relationship with Bob.
